Maré island - Todos os Santos bay

Maré island is located in Todos os Santos bay (in portuguese: Baía de Todos os Santos), the main bay of Bahia, and belongs to Salvador. Its habitants work with fishing, family farm and in some Salvador's near neighborhoods, like Periperi, Paripe, Plataforma and Ribeira.

Praia das Neves is the most visited beach in Ilha de Maré. Besides, it's more structured than others to have tourists. The place is perfect to ride a jet-ski, ride in a kayak and dive. Nossa Senhora de Santana church, that was built in 1552, is an excelent choice between the available excursions. One beach that deserves to be visited is Botelho. It's apropriated to the practice of diving and other nautical sports, because its water is warm and calm.

By car or by bus, you must go through Suburbana Avenue until São Tomé de Paripe ferry terminal. There's also the option of goinh by other kind of ships that leave from Salvador.
